February roundup It has been a busy few weeks for the Trucks Plus Sprintcar team and young gun Kris Coyle, WSS The King of Wings and last weekends Krikke Boys Shootout has seen the team on the road for six odd weeks. The team returns to the Perth Motorplex this weekend to contest round 20 of the AHG series, Coyle is keen to post a strong result after a couple of lean nights for the young gun at recent meetings. “We have done OK but not brilliant, Bunbury started well with a great time trial but not finishing the heat due to the tyre and then unable to go forward on night one made it hard. Night two we were sitting in a transfer spot but the car was way too tight and I couldn’t hold off the guys behind so to miss the A again wasn’t great” Said the young star. The team switched to the Maxim chassis at the start of February; working on getting the car setup right and at times has been a challenge. “I changed
the seat position and leg area to give Kris a bit more room so he
was more comfortable rather than being jammed in, we have been
trying to get the car to really bite in and at certain tracks it has
wanted to sit on top” Said team owner Steve Coyle. A highlight for the team during February was spending time with American star Sammy Swindell and reminiscing about the history of a 1994 Jenkins Sprintcar Steve Coyle purchased via the states which belonged to Swindell that he put on pole position in the 1993/94 Knoxville Nationals. After Coyle purchased the car the late great Michael Figliomeni who went on to win a state title in it and still carries the 34 on the tail today. The trucks plus racing team would like to thank SJ crushing Hitachi Remote Area Concrete, McMahon Haulage, Treblex, TMG Fabrication, Watsons Express Transport, Trucks Plus, and SpeedSport Media for their support for the coming season.
