Coyle happy with WSS Wekend

In the biggest event of the season at the Perth Motorplex young gun Kris Coyle has come away with a finish in the top 12 of the A main and a straight car.

“The car is straight and we made up a couple of spots, on that track you were never going to go forward very far but we made the A main and finished it and the car went into the transporter straight so we are happy enough with that” Said Coyle.

Night one of the WSS show at the Perth Motorplex had Coyle time trial 14th in the 35 car field which equated to mid pack starting positions in his heats. With a dry slick abrasive track tearing up tyres it was a hard battle to go forward but 4th and 7th were a strong result but still relegated the emerging star to the B main.

At the end of the B main Coyle had secured a spot in the all important prelim A main and from there Coyle moved forward from the rear to 14th which he held station to the end.

‘I couldn’t do anything really we just did the best we could on that track tonight, it was such a disappointing track out there and to top it off like all the teams tonight we have a massive tyre bill”.

Night two

After the final heats and the dashes took place Coyle started up the front of the B main and immediately laid down a string of lap times in the 13 second bracket to give himself a strong lead and a definate starting position in the A main .

“I changed a few things around to see if we could get some more speed and it seemed to work quite well the car was awesome, not bad for the home made Murphy car” Said team owner and crew chief Steve Coyle.

With a track hard to pass on it was always going to be a struggle to move forward in a field of this calibre, but with a string of good lap times Coyle moved forward a couple of positions and held his own till the end avoiding being put a lap down by the front runners.

“Our lap times were quite good and we were the third WA car across the line tonight so we are happy enough”. Young Coyle said.

At the end of the weekend Coyle has now moved into fifth place in the AHG Sprintcar Series point score and the team now heads to Collie for the Southern Thunder series.
