Coyles gutsy run at Collie.

Young gun Kris Coyle battled with the top of the crop at Collie speedway last weekend to finish in the third and final podium position in the Southern Thunder Sprintcar Series. It was a gutsy performance from the young gun who once again showed a maturity far beyond his 18 years.

“It was full on out there, racing against Ryan, Luche and Jamie is great, when you can get close to these drivers you know you are on the pace”  said a very happy Coyle.

After an average run in heat one finishing 8th Coyle changed the setup for heat two and ran a strong 3rd which meant a run in the B dash where he finished 3rd.

Starting on the outside (Sixth) seemed a slight disadvantage due to the slick condition of the outside line but nobody had told Coyle that, when he rounded up the likes of Ryan Farrell, & Luche Monte.

‘I got a great run on the start and went around the outside to slot into third position but we got an open red light due to a crash, and whilst dad was out checking the car I told him they won’t fall for that again, the next start I did it again and slotted into second this time, but a couple of laps later I hit a rut and a couple got back past me” said Coyle.

Coyle continued to run hard and consolidated fourth position when eventual race winner Jamie Maiolo came together with Ryan Farrell that saw Farrell sidelined and Coyle move into third place. With a re-start and only eight laps remaining the 18 year old Coyle remained composed crossing the line third ahead of Kendrick team driver Ken Satori.

“The last ten laps of so the handling was going away so I just made sure I could keep pushing hard enough not to let anyone past”. Coyle commented.

Hard charger Ryan Farrell was full of praise for Coyle on his run and commented that he is now one of the drivers to watch out for.

With the World Series Sprintcar circus in town for this, weekends’ double header at the Motorplex Coyle is hoping for some continued consistency over the two nights.

“We approach every meeting the same and try not to put too much pressure on ourselves, it’s going to be an awesome weekend and we don’t want to get taken out in the first race so we will take things as they come” said the quiet achiever Coyle.
