Trucks Plus Racings Kris Coyle certainly stepped up his driving another notch last weekend in heat one at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night. After a fourth place in heat one the team changed the setup slightly to make the car stick up high. Come heat two the young gun went high and rounded up six cars by the end of the back straight then went on to take the rest of the field shortly after. Coyle held the lead for a number of laps until lapped traffic cut his run which allowed David Priolo to go by. Coyle fought all the way to the finish to record a strong second place.

“I saw nobody was up that high so I knew the car would stick so that’s where I went and the car just launched from there, it was good to get such a good run onto the back straight. Its always hard with slower cars  sometimes you get a good run and sometimes you don’t, we got caught and David went past” said Coyle.

Lining up in eighth place for the A main event it didn’t take long and Coyle was on the move again working past some of the more fancied competitors. The track conditions meant that Coyle would remain high to miss the rough but halfway through the race a broken muffler was all it took to send Coyle to the infield.

“It’s really disappointing I thought the car was pretty good and with such a long race I thought we should be able to move forward. The muffler decided to part company so it was best that we parked it”.

The team has a full schedule over the next month with a round of the series at Collie Speedway next weekend and following on is the World Series shows at the Motorplex on the 21st & 22nd November.

“If we can get a few consistent runs over the next month or so it will definitely help as we get closer to the national title, Dad (Steve) hasn’t put any pressure on me at all but I am trying to step up my own program to the next level” Coyle said.

A blast from the past Garry Miller who raced Sprintcars quite a few years ago has stepped into a 410 and is being assisted by the Trucks Plus Team. Miller has only had a couple of runs and is slowly coming to grips with the changes to Sprintcar racing over the past fifteen years.

Currently Kris Coyle sits 10th in the AHG series, on 255 points and Miller in 25th position on 150 points.
