COYLES STANDOUT PERFORMANCE

A standout performance was how it was described after Kris Coyle stood up to be counted at rounds 3&4 of the Wanless World Series Sprintcars on the weekend. Coyles performance stood out for a number of reason least of all his dominance over the more fancied competition in one heat that saw him start from position six and go on to win by nearly half a lap.

After a shock absorber issue in time trials on night one Coyle time trialed 18th in world series Sprintcars time trialing badly and you will not have a good night. Coyles determination saw him drive forward in the heats to start out of position 8 in the A main event which was testament to just how hard he had worked throughout the night.

“We got it slightly wrong in the time trials, it just didn’t do what we thought it was going to but dad found the issue quickly and we changed the shock over and we went forward the rest of the night” Said Coyle.

 Night one A main

Coyle worked high and mid track until he settled and began picking off cars one by one, the fast pace of the race had caught the back markers out and the front runner were lapping traffic which allowed Coyle to close in on the front pack. After late race caution Coyle had moved up to fifth and was making headway as the race continued and once he moved to fourth he chased down Max Dumesney and ran him all the way to the line missing third by less that a car length.

“The car was great, a couple of cars dropped out which helped us along the way, but the car was fast and was getting better with each lap, I was pretty happy to have closed up on Max like that but ran out of laps at the end”.

 Night Two

Deciding to change the car slightly proved a good move in time trials on night two when Coyle outgunned the majority of the field and sat in third place after the times were taken.

With the format and Coyles third fastest time trial he started towards the back of each heat a fourth and seventh gave him enough points to secure highest points.

The A dash saw Coyle finish in second behind race winner Ian Louden which meant a position three start in the A main event.

Once the main had started Coyle slipped backwards through the field in a car without a lot of forward bite. Dropping back to 10th position he settled and held the position until the car started to dial in, throughout the next ten laps Coyle worked his way back up the field to sixth, running the very high line.

Coyle moved up to Mark Wells with both drivers working very hard as they came onto the main straight when Ken Satori slid up from the bottom of the track hitting Coyles front end turning him into the wall and out of the race.

“I was just doing my own thing and going forward and then as we entered the main straight bang goes the front end and I’m in the wall, it’s really disappointing for that to happen” Commented Coyle.

Coyles performance on paper may not show a finish in the A main but his performance over the two nights of racing was an outstanding effort for the team against the cream of the crop in Australia’s biggest Sprintcar series.
