A weekend of jubilation for the Coyle team

It wasn’t just a good weekend for the team it was awesome, was how it was described by a Coyle crew member after Kris Coyle finished fourth in the final of the 2009 Krikke Boys shootout. Coyle known for his wheel standing antics certainly let fly with a number of big stands and high-sides throughout the two night deal but it was game on in the A main final.

“That was a great race, to come fourth in this event was awesome and I can’t thank our team and sponsors enough, Hitachi, Roger from Remote area concrete, TMG fabrication McMahon Haulage, Trucks Plus and Little Industries. It has topped off a great weekend for us” Said Coyle after the race.

With the track tamed down a lot from the first night Coyle ran second in his final heat and went into the B dash finishing third which gave him sixth starting position in the final. When the greens went on so did the hammer and Coyle maintained his sixth position for half the race and then moved into fifth, Carl Dowling then Ryan Farrell tried several times to get past Coyle to no avail, Dumesney was sitting in fourth behind Danny Reidy when Reidy had a moment coming out of turn two and Dumesney checked up and watched as Coyle flew by on the inside and went on to record his fourth and in doing so was the first West Australian driver home behind race winner Robbie Farr, American Paul McMahon and Reidy.

“To be the first West Australian home is more significant than just the fourth place, racing against these guys who are some of the best in the country and some of the best drivers anywhere is pretty special I think” Said the elated team owner Steve Coyle.

Coyle’s first night preliminary A main third placed finish behind race winner Ben Ellement and second placed American Chad Blonde was a strong result in the trying conditions on the Bunbury Clay-way. After night ones workout new team sponsor Hitachi Australia opened its Bunbury workshop doors to the team for the day where the car got the once over.

“Hitachi has really looked after us, and allowed us to do the maintenance in comfort with all the equipment at our disposal, the conditions last night meant we really did need to go over the car with a fine tooth comb to make sure everything was spot on. By the end of last night we were on our third Jacobs ladder” Kris said.

“On behalf of the team I would like to thank Ron & John Krikke for running the Krikke Boys Shootout and to the major sponsors Russell Halls Bunbury Auto Group, GWN, Barbados Lounge Bar, and Bunbury mail, also a special thank you to Andrew Roberts for his tireless efforts, in making the weekend such a success”.

Kris and the team are now focusing on the Motorplex for the next round of the AHG series and then Manjimup after that.

“There is still a few meetings left to gain some more points in the AHG series and we will do what we can to claw back some of those points we have dropped during the year for one reason or another”.

A special thankyou to Remote Area Concrete and TMG Fabrication for their assistance in enabling American star Jonathan Allard to also race for the team in the Krikke Boys Shootout.
